The comix list is intended for discussion of non-mainstream and independent
comics. We generally don't talk about superheroes much, especially any
superhero which is part of an overall superhero universe (i.e. DC, Marvel,
Image, Ultraverse, Comics Greatest World, Milestone, etc.) We don't talk
about Marvel Mutants or Spawn at all.
The purpose of this list is *not* negotiable, as there are many other
resources for discussion of other types of comics. Some are compiled
below for your convenience--if the type of comics discussed here are
either not of interest to you or if there are other types you'd like
to discuss somewhere, you might check through the body of this post to
see if there are other lists/groups that line up more closely with
your interests.
GUIDELINES FOR DISCUSSIONS ON THE LIST:
1. Quote only enough of other posts for context. A "From" at the top
and prefix (often ">") indented text is the norm. Trim extraneous
text from the message you're quoting. Try to use line lengths of 80
characters or less. Likewise, signature files should be no more than
10 lines long. (Actually, anything over 5 is generally considered
excessive.)
2. Off-topic posts should be kept to a minimum. Private jokes,
running jokes, puns, side conversations, etc, should be taken to
private mail. They can be extremely annoying after the first one or
two, and are boring to the other 99% of the list members. If you feel
you must post them, mark them as such in the subject line. Do not
post chain letters or virus alerts of any type to the list.
3. If you change the topic of the message, change the subject line.
4. This is a list of friendly, reasonable and intelligent people.
Posters are expected to behave as adults, regardless of age. Flames
are Right Out - take it to private mail if you really must. If
someone offends you, the best way to address them is in private mail.
5. Please note that this mailing list will not allow the posting of
gifs or jpegs or other large binary files. These are bad juju to post
on any mailing list, as it screws up mail for a number of people. The
polite form for sharing a photo, illustration or sound file is to make
it available through the web or ftp.
By remaining subscribed to this mailing list, you agree to follow
these guidelines.
